Welcome

Welcome to Lamb of God!

We are a family of faith where Jesus is at the center of all we do. From our excellent day school for preschool through fifth grade to Prime Timers, our group dedicated to being a place of belonging for those 55+, we strive to help all people learn, live, and love through Jesus. Whether you are a new follower of Jesus or one returning to the faith, we invite you to come, see, and experience Jesus with us.

Pastor Jared Townley

From the beginning of Christianity (A.D. 33), Christians have worshiped with two thoughts in mind.  One is to call upon God.  The second is to hear God speak. At each of the three weekend services, we put this into practice.
Family
Lamb of God is a family of Christians who are in church to worship God and be strengthened in the faith for their life's journey.  As you enter church a greeter will welcome you and help you with directions.  The usher will give you a worship folder.  Every seat is a good seat in the sanctuary.
Worship Bulletin
This little booklet contains the "order of service."  It is laid out in such a way to draw you closer to God.  The goal of each service is that at the end of worship, everyone will feel uplifted and inspired, ready to face another week and eagerly looking forward to the next time the family gathers for worship.
It would be our privilege to meet and welcome you to our spiritual home.
And, if God so leads you, to also make this place your spiritual home.
Saturday (Traditional) 5:00 p.m.
This worship service provides an excellent opportunity for people who work on Sundays. The service is blessed with piano music, and is less formal than the Sunday services.

Sunday 8:00 (Traditional) a.m.
This service offers a more traditional liturgical worship.
Traditional Lutheran songs are accompanied by the organ and piano.

Sunday 9:30 (Family) a.m.
This is a new family worship service where we will grow in faith together as a family, removing barriers, and creating space for authentic worship that speaks to every age. Whether you're a seasoned church family or exploring faith for the first time, this service creates space for authentic family worship without judgment.

Sunday 10:45 (Contemporary) a.m.
This service is all about praise. The Praise Team is accompanied by a variety of musicians and musical instruments to bring praise to God.  The service is a thematic worship format.

Please come to meet us!
Each service begins with the exchange of peace, the time in which we share with each other the peace that God brings to our soul.  Come this weekend and let us share God's peace with you!

The First Look Nursery gives infants and toddlers their first impression of their loving Heavenly Father! The nursery is available every Sunday morning for your use during the 8:00 am and 10:45 am Worship Service.

Here your child's needs will be embraced so that they will remember:

  • God Made Me
  • God Loves Me
  • Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

We invite parents with preschool children (0 to 5 years old) to utilize the nursery during Worship when they need space to wiggle or calm down.

While we encourage parents to worship with their small children, we understand that they may, at times, need a safe space to burn off extra energy or strong emotions.

Please be sure to supervise your children while using the nursery.

A Decision
God will lead you to decide if Lamb of God Lutheran Church is to be your spiritual home. This decision usually arrives after attending worship several times.

The Class
When you reach your decision to make Lamb of God your spiritual home, we offer an adult instruction class.  The class is on set Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  Dr. Luther's Small Catechism and the guide book "God For Us" are provided.  And if you don't have one, a Bible.  Many blessings come from this class, such as new and lasting friendships, a deeper understanding of God's love, a burning desire to walk with God through life.

Who it is for
This class covers the main teachings of Christianity as taught by the Lutheran Church.  It is intended for Christians who are not confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Many Lutheran people find the class to be of great spiritual value to attend.  Babysitting can be provided.

To enroll, contact the  Church Office.

We do not have a dress code and would love for you to attend worship comfortably, whether that means wearing a suit or jeans.  However, we do request that you wear something normally worn in public and refrain from pajamas or beach attire.

We welcome to communion those Baptized Christians who have been instructed in the meaning of the Lord's Supper and who can answer yes to the following questions:

  1.  Do I believe that I am a sinner in need of God's forgiveness?
  2. Do I believe that Jesus died and rose again and forgives me?
  3. Do I believe that Jesus is really present in the bread and cup of the Sacrament?
  4. By the strength of the Holy Spirit, do I intend to live a life following the example of Jesus?

History

The Northwest Mission is Established

In the summer of 1989 four Lutheran couples in rapidly expanding northwest Las Vegas began to explore the possibility of founding a Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod mission in their community. In January 1990, after many contacts with the Pacific Southwest District, Associate Pastor Ed Zimbrick of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Las Vegas, was appointed to begin a new mission church in northwest Las Vegas.

The first worship service for the NW Lutheran Mission Church was held on March 11, 1990, in the Campus Chapel of Good Shepherd of St. Jude's Ranch just north of North Jones and Highway 215. Thirteen members and eight guests attended that day. By December 1990, attendance had increased to an average of 116. It was then that the fledgling church purchased a ten acre site on the corner of North Jones and Highway 215 with funding from LCEF.

In January of 1991 the members adopted the name Lamb of God Lutheran Church, and received approval to call their own pastor.

A newspaper article in December 1994, said this about Lamb of God Lutheran Church: "Members say the story of Lamb of God is more than just growing numbers. Of greater importance is the growing of people. And, it's about community".

By 1994 the congregation totaled 208 baptized members, and in 1995, the church building was dedicated.

Later that year, the ministry of Lamb of God opened a preschool in the Church building, with a Kindergarten and 1st grade being added in 2001. Finally, in 2004 with the generosity of the Church members, it began construction on the new elementary building and administration offices. The school now has over 400 students, PreK – 5th grade.

In its first mission statement, the church said, "The Mission of Lamb of God Lutheran Church is to answer God's call for a church that will be warm and caring, and preach the Gospel as truth in a contemporary way."

The interim committee revised the statement in September 2011: "We are a loving, Christ-centered family reaching out to people and caring for each other."

Today, Lamb of God Lutheran is a growing congregation of 500+ members reaching out to the community in various ways. Praise God for all He has done in this place!

We are a loving, Christ-centered family reaching out to people and caring for each other.
