What We Believe

From the beginning of Christianity (A.D. 33), Christians have worshiped with two thoughts in mind.  One is to call upon God.  The second is to hear God speak. At each of the three weekend services, we put this into practice.

Our Beliefs

The Bible
Lamb of God Lutheran Church and School is a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.  Lutheran Christians trace their heritage to Dr. Martin Luther (1483-1546).   This church and our Synod believes that the Bible is God's verbally inspired Word.  This Word is for people to read and discover who God is and His great love.

Basic Beliefs of Lamb of God
Being "Lutheran," we accept and teach the Bible-based teachings of Dr. Martin Luther (1483-1546) which inspired the Reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the Reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone.

Grace Alone
Grace is undeserved love.  God's grace to His people means that He provided a way for people to have a relationship with Him while on earth and forever in heaven.  This was done, even though people are sinful, disobey Him and do not deserve His love. Jesus, His Son, came of His own free will to make peace between God and people.  That is the meaning behind Christmas, Good Friday (when Jesus atoned for all people by His death) and Easter, the day of Christ's Resurrection.

Faith Alone
Faith is a gift of God given through the Holy Spirit when people hear God's story of love in Jesus.  It is by faith in our heart that we have connection with our heavenly Father.  In faith we know that we are forgiven of our sin, and have waiting for us the gift of eternal life in heaven.  There is no other way to be in relationship with God except by faith.

Scripture Alone
The Scripture is the Bible and God's infallible Word.  Only from Scripture can a person find true relationship with God and how to please God every day until the day that Jesus takes the soul to heaven.  The teachings of Lamb of God Lutheran Church are taken only from the Scripture.

God's Plan For Us
The Bible teaches that God is Love and reveals him as Triune.  He is One God and Three Persons.  The three persons are Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Each are instrumental in bringing us to know the Living God.

The Bible teaches that we need God's help.  Our sin prevents us from having a genuine relationship with Him.  God intervened for us in a loving way.  The Father sent His Son to earth.  On Christmas Jesus Christ who (true God and true man) was born. He became our Savior.

Jesus broke down the barriers between God and us.  God wanted us to perfectly obey the commandments.  Jesus did this for us.  God wanted atonement for all our sins.  Jesus did this for us when He died on a cross in the city of Jerusalem and rose from death in AD 33.

The Father sent the Holy Spirit into this world to bring connection to Him.  This connection is called "faith," and comes when a person hears or reads the promises of God in the Bible.  That person is then called a Christian, beginning a life long journey of preparation for the day that Jesus will take them to heaven so that not only in their heart, but with their eyes can they see God.

An Invitation
Dr. Martin Luther prepared a book called Luther's Small Catechism with Explanation.  It takes from the Scripture to help teach more about God, His Love and how we can know Him.  This book and the Bible are used in Lutheran instruction for adults and children.  Contact the office for more information about Lutheran instruction.

Baptism is a Sacrament
Baptism is one of two sacraments that Jesus gave to His people.  The second sacrament is Holy Communion. A sacrament is a sacred, holy act with an earthly element that is used with God's Word. The earthly element for baptism is plain water.

The Power of Baptism
The power of baptism is its connection with God's word - that is His promises.  These promises tell us baptism is a spiritual washing and regeneration of the soul.  Every baptism is a miracle.  It is at that time that the Holy Spirit places saving faith into the heart of an infant and confirms the faith of an adult.

The Blessing of Baptism
The blessings of baptism for infant, child or adult are, as the Scriptures and Lutherans teach - the forgiveness of sins, a new life (relationship) with God and eternal life.  In addition to this, the spiritual power to fight against the temptations of our sinful flesh, the world and even Satan himself.  The only way a person can lose this blessing is if he/she decides to not believe in God's promises.

How To Be Baptized
For infants - their parents need only to ask the pastor.  For children - the pastor instructs the children in the faith and baptism.  For adults - the pastor has a baptismal instruction class.  When the adult feels ready for baptism, the Sacrament is given in preparation for adult confirmation.

Simply Ask
God leads us in miraculous ways.  If He has put it in your heart that you, or your loved ones should be baptized, contact the church office and we can begin the process of the washing and regeneration of another of God's precious souls.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is offered every Saturday and Sunday to those that believe that the body and blood of Christ are truly present in the bread and wine.  To those who receive Him with a repentant and open heart, He gives the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation. No prior permission is needed to receive communion.

Youth that have attended an early communion class or confirmation and are mature enough to understand the above commitment to the Lord's Supper may receive the sacrament.

Children not of age, or those not receiving communion may come up with their arms folded in front of them and receive a blessing.
